Total Consumption
Total Consumption explores America’s culture of overconsumption and excess. Fast food restaurants, with their cheap prices and promotions, exemplify this idea, encouraging people to buy more. This is reflected in obvious motifs like cheeseburgers and soda cups.
Initially struggling to find inspiration in my surroundings, I focused on the omnipresent food ads and restaurants. This led me to explore the concepts of “more than I could process” and “overflowing” in my design work, using a grid/mesh texture to exaggerate and understand 3D shapes.
I then adapted these ideas into fashion through my sketches, selecting seven that best represent my vision. The color palette draws from classic fast food hues but is rendered in a more muted tone.
