The Table
Challenge:
Design and construct a conceptual runway-ready garment utilizing only thrifted and recycled materials within a $20 budget. Source, deconstruct, and repurpose fabrics to create a distinctive and visually striking piece, ensuring a refined finish and impactful presentation. Demonstrate creativity and sustainability while achieving a high standard of conceptual innovation and visual excellence.
Concept:
Imagined a traditional Western housewife breaking free from the constraints of her domestic life. The garment tells her story of liberation and renewal, fashioned from items that could be found around the home — a bedskirt, wired
hangers, recycled wood, and a tea set. Each repurposed element weaves together to depict her journey from confinement to a bold embrace.
