Chastity
Design Statement
This collection explores the pressures, fears, and emotional tension surrounding sexual experience—particularly the uncomfortable vulnerability that comes with undressing, both physically and emotionally. It reflects the internal conflict between desire and self-protection, balancing themes of exposure and restraint, softness and sharpness, vulnerability and security.
As part of this project, we were asked to select an existing brand and merge its design ethos with our own. I chose Ludovic de Saint Sernin for their bold use of lacing, sheer fabrics, and overtly sensual silhouettes. Their unapologetic approach to eroticism inspired me to confront themes of guardedness and intimacy within my own aesthetic.
The resulting collection contrasts softness and armor: protective silhouettes and inflated forms are met with rigid, skin-close pieces. Spiked accents and harsh textures interrupt moments of delicacy, reflecting the friction between safety and surrender. Together, the garments form a visual narrative of hesitation, desire, and emotional complexity.
